This works for me (linux, libedit version 20191211.3.1). I don't have any 
immediate suggestions, but I'd start with looking at the escape sequences 
produced by libedit and lldb when this happens. That might give a clue as to 
who is getting confused and why. In particular it may be useful to compare the 
sequences when this does happen vs. when it does not happen (like why didn't 
this happen when you just type `h` or `he`? Or why doesn't this happen with a 
different command, etc.).
