At today's IRC meeting, we voted to use the name "OSGeoLive" (no hyphen or space), with the alternative form "osgeolive" for things such as URLs in which lowercase is used by tradition. See the IRC logs for discussion:
http://irclogs.geoapt.com/osgeolive/%23osgeolive.2017-11-06.log

I will update the logo to match this change.

Kind regards,
Ben.

Hi Vicky,

thanks for bringing up that topic.

+1 to define the name during incubation

I prefer OSGeo-Live but I am also open for changes.

So during our incubation we need to "fix" what can be fixed, about the
names.
I wont open an issue, because we have the "move issues" thing pending
until we have our issues only for ourselves, I will add this as an
issue

Hi Vicky -  you are right, these are not cleaned up.. they were
created at different times in the history of the project. --
live-demo   comes from the very early roots, when the OSGeo hackers
and the Arramagong project joined

Live GIS disk or disc   is a generic name. The wikipedia article on
that topic shows six other projects like this one.
OSGeo-Live  has the hyphen, and is this project, but I believe we
decided that the hyphen is more trouble than it is worth. The hyphen
is a written, human convention that tries to be good grammer. In the
age of Internet, it is better to remove the hyphen because not all
search and database systems carry to along as expected.
osgeolive   is a primitive, simplistic tag, for the most primitve
communications systems.. like IRC

the remaining two, OSGeo Live  and  OSGeoLive  are both flawed, but
are the closest to the real project,
today.

moving forward, I believe that this project will split, by
decision or simply in fact. The Debian repository is not run by
OSGeo, and is named with Debian conventions. The Ubuntu repository
may or may not be run by OSGeo, and is a backport of the shipping
Live, in practice.
The new OSGeo web site should link directly to the docs, making the
docs their own project alone.
The remaining  "Live Demo" continues, but the form factor, method to
try and deliver to users, and other
components are ripe for invention at this time.
formal names for each of these things are needed, in my opinion.

I am confused with the name of our project:

OSGeo-Live: is used on the documentation (with a dash) & We applied
using the dash

OSGeo Live: is used on the logo (no dash, dont know about space)
OSGeoLive: is used on gogs & GitHub (no dash no space)
osgeolive: is used on IRC
demo-live: is used in the mailing lists
Live GIS disc: is used in the wiki
