Hi all,

The latest changes in rasdaman installer had been merged by my mistake in
https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive/commit/e439f3935c1aad6dfef5b36656a8c76506aa9154
but then reverted in the next commit:
https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive/commit/2e433c7fb80dd9a695257bc22500b744cd4122ec

Right now, in master branch (from where RC1 will happen soon) the previous rasdaman 9.0.2 installer is used.

Alex has proposed some new changes in a new PR:
https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive/pull/92
but it is still not working (breaks the disk live session)
http://aiolos.survey.ntua.gr/gisvm/dev/osgeo-live-nightly-pr92-amd64-203898a.iso
The latest build logs for this PR are here:
http://aiolos.survey.ntua.gr/gisvm/dev/osgeo-live-nightly-pr92-amd64-203898a-log.tar.gz

My guess is that the "rasdaman" user account is causing this to happen. The previous installer did not create a new user and everything worked fine.

Please keep in mind that the live session uses a temporary user account to work and we are doing some magic to make installers work (we create a "user" account during build, we install everything under this account, we move files to skel, then we delete the account and we FORCE the live session to name the temporary user account as "user" at boot time of the live system)

Obviously, if the new installer does not work in the next 2-3 days, I will not merge the PR and rasdaman 9.2 will have to wait for OSGeoLive 10.0

Best,
Angelos

Angelos, Alex, Peter,

If the latest rasdaman fix doesn't work, I suggest that we will need to revert to the version on the last release. Our OSGeo-Live release candidate is due out in 3 days [1].

We have had a bad track record getting latest releases of rasdaman working on OSGeo-Live, with us usually working on trying to get the latest rasdaman working right at the last moment.

Rasdaman team, do you have any suggestions on how we can improve this? Should we aim to get Rasdaman working earlier in the release cycle? Should we only take long term releases of rasdaman, which have proved to be stable? Something else?

Warm regards, Cameron

Hi all

Unfortunately the installer issue is not yet resolved so rasdaman 9.2 has not yet reached OSGeoLive 9.5 master. To be exact, I merged it and reverted after it failed to work in later builds.

For details look in this conversation log:
https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive/pull/74

Alex, can you please make sure that the new installer stops all the rasdaman instances as well as tomcat before the end of the build process?
The live session seems to be broken...

Hi Cameron,

The quickstart is valid as it is, no changes are required. I will do a PR
later today for the Project Overview, sorry for the delay.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Angelos,
I haven't been keeping track of discussions about the status of Rasdaman on OSGeo-Live. Can you please confirm that version 9.2.0 is installed as
noted by Alex.

Alex, thanks for offering to update the Project Overview. I will review once you have completed. I don't think I've seen a pull request for it yet?
Also, are their any changes required for the Quickstart?

Warm regards, Cameron

Hi,

Actually it's 9.2.0, see this PR (
https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive/pull/74). The docs are still valid and
describe correctly the workflow, however the version here (
http://adhoc.osgeo.osuosl.org/livedvd/docs/en/overview/rasdaman_overview.html) seems wrong. I will submit a PR for it and check if anything else might
need an update.

Hi Peter, Vlad, Mircea,

The OSGeo-Live Project Overview for rasdaman currently describes version 8.5.4, however version 9.0.4 is installed on the next OSGeo-Live9.5 release. Are there any features which should be added to the Project Overview, or
does the doc just require a version update?

You can see the latest nightly OSGeo-Live docs here:
<http://adhoc.osgeo.osuosl.org/livedvd/docs/en/overview/overview.html>

And docs are in git here: https://github.com/OSGeo/OSGeoLive-doc
