I understood the idea was to stay with Barcelona for this release and
move to Denver for the next one. For one thing, I'm not motivated to
rebuild

Correct the plan is to switch to Denver data for version 5 which will
be
given out at Foss4G. You can think of the current build 4.5 as a mostly
bugfix release with no major changes in datasets, base ubuntu, etc...
