Hi!

One of the unit-planning groups in my Humanities 7 class has proposed
"Wintergirls" as a novel to accompany their history of food unit. The
reviews make it sound like an amazing book, but I was put on alert by the
phrase "gruesome details of her decomposition will test sensitive readers"
in the Booklist review. Has anyone used this novel with middle schoolers
and if so, what are your own thoughts on its appropriateness for this age
group? Thank you!

Take care,
