In the office here I have 30GB allocated for squid to use as a cache. In this case where the chaps in the workshop are often downloading things like Windows Updates, software packages, etc., the size was chosen to (try to) ensure things like those were picked up in the cache. I've also changed the squid caching algo so it'll prefer fewer large items to lots of little ones.
