Quoting Mike Brady <[email protected]>:
I have a couple of AR Infotek 5020
(http://www.arinfotek.com.tw/product.php?gid=1&pid=104) that I am
having a couple of problems with that I do not how to go about
resolving.
Firstly, pfsense fails to boot with ACPI enabled. I have tried
pfsense versions 2.0.1, 2.0.2 and 2.01 (snapshot from 25 April).
Linux (Centos 6.3) and FreeBSD 8.1 both boot. All the above report
a number of ACPI warnings, but only pfSense fails to boot.
Secondly, the 5020 has 6x Intel 82583v and 2x Intel 82441PI ethernet
interfaces. In all the above versions of pfSense (booted with ACPI
disabled) the 82441PI interfaces fail to work. All the 82583v
interfaces do work. All 8 Interfaces work in both Centos 6.3 and
FreeBSD 8.1.
All the OSes detect all 8 controllers and load drivers.
FreeBSD 8.1 shows "Intel(R) PRO/1000 Legacy Network Connection
1.0.1", which works.
pfSense shows "Intel(R) PRO/1000 Legacy Network Connection 1.0.4",
which does not work.
I am at a loss as to what to look at/try next. I am happy to
provide the logs or any other information that would help shed some
light on this.
And the answer was to not rely on Google to find the answer. Use the
search function in the forums.
This post put me on the correct path.
