Hello,

I now have two pfsense 2.0.1 machines in failover with some basic SNMP
monitoring up. I thought the easiest way to get an alert when they
switched was to poll for sysName on the virtual IP address and send a
notification when the hostname differs. But while snmpwalk works
without a problem when pointed directly at each of the two firewalls, it
times out on the virtual address.

I have rules for allowing snmp, ssh and https traffic to the real and
virtual addresses and both the secure shell and web interface are
accessible. "Bind to LAN interface only" is unchecked as I'm querying
from one of the DMZs and netstat on the current master shows the snmp
daemon listening on port 161 on all interfaces.

So could anyone please point to me the newbie mistake I'm making this
time?

Regards,
