1) from the grub prompt
root (hd0,7)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-22-generic root=(/dev/sda10
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32-22-generic
boot

If you boot successfully then reboot and on the grub prompt
root (hd0,7)
setup (hd0)

It is presumed that your /boot is /dev/sda8 and has all the kernels, 
initrds
your distro is installed in /dev/sda10
your /boot/grub has all grub files including menu.lst
