I tested an old system with kernel 3.* from 2014. I got the same error output from dmesg. As a result from this, I dismantled the card reader.
It wasn't visible from outside, but as I opened the card reader I registerd one pin of the eight pins was twisted. I thing this explains anything. From my point of view, it was only a hardware trouble.
