The problem was not that the machine didn't resume, but the data corruption occuring when going S1/S3. I resolved the problem about 30 min. ago by updating the controllers firmware. Have checked by suspending 20 times, and the error didn't come back. Wasn't aware that such small controller cards have firmware which is user-updateable (and that they are obviously sold without any serious quality control). For those who care or are encountering the same/similar problems, I got the firmware from this place: http://www.station-drivers.com/index.php/downloads/Drivers/Renesas-Nec/USB-3.0/ Release 2.0.2.4 fixed my problem. Had to find a guy with a Wind*ws machine who allowed me to insert my card into his machine to be able to flash it. Booting Windows PE and similar didn't work out.
