Just because a problem occurs when a particular patch is applied
doesn't mean the patch caused the problem.  It happens quite often that
a patch fixes one problem and thereby reveals another which had
previously been hidden.

I don't think there's any possibility that the $SUBJECT patch could
cause a problem by itself.  But it certainly might enable other
problems to surface.
