Gaak. WTF is it with list archivers which are so stupid that they think most text/* MIME types are binary ... and then turn them into bizarre binary mime types when downloading? (In this case, a StuffIT archive, which I recall as being mostly useful to cope with "resource forks" on MacOS files.) I'm not understanding what failure mode you're alluding to, though. All the $SUBJECT patch could possibly do is avoid some undesirable delays in URB completion.
