When I do anything with Chromium that requires a file dialog, I see boxes
instead of the proper characters in the interface.

This sequence caused the bug to appear:
On gmail or any html page, hit control-P
choose Save as PDF for the destination and hit Save
file save as dialog appears without fonts, only boxes. The dialog does not
properly save any files but does go away if you click the spot where Cancel
should be, or hit the escape key.
This sequence also causes the bug to appear:
Go to a gmail with an attachment. Click on the attachment to make it pop
out into its own tab. Click the download button in the top right corner.
A fle save dialog appears with only boxes instead of fonts. This will also
occur if you right click the email attachment and choose save as.
I am using Chromium Version 95.0.4638.54 (Official Build) snap (64-bit),
under Ubuntu 20.04.3 LTS, Gnome 3.36.8
