Starting with version 52, the backspace key isn't a valid shortcut for going back to the previous page. This is a conscious design decision.
There are extensions that allow enabling the backspace key as a shortcut, if you really need that. ** Changed in: chromium-browser (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of UBUNTU - AL - BR, which is subscribed to Chromium Browser. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/924049 Title: Unable to go back by pressing the Backspace key. Status in Chromium Browser: Unknown Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu: Won't Fix Bug description: Backspace usually has the function of going back a page. Similar to pressing the Back Arrow button on the top left (Chromium 15.0.x). Unfortunately, this is not the case. Nothing happens when the Backspace key is pressed. Alt+LeftArrow key combination does work. However, the use of Backspace should also be a part of the originally intended key bindings for this action. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 11.10 Release: 11.10 ubuntu@ubuntu:~$ apt-cache policy chromium-browser chromium-browser: Installed: 15.0.874.106~r107270-0ubuntu0.11.10.1 Candidate: 15.0.874.106~r107270-0ubuntu0.11.10.1 Version table: *** 15.0.874.106~r107270-0ubuntu0.11.10.1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric-updates/universe i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 14.0.835.202~r103287-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe i386 Packages ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: chromium-browser 15.0.874.106~r107270-0ubuntu0.11.10.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu4 Architecture: i386 Date: Tue Jan 31 02:00:08 2012 Desktop-Session: DESKTOP_SESSION = Lubuntu XDG_CONFIG_DIRS = /etc/xdg/lubuntu/:/etc/xdg/xdg-/usr/bin/startlubuntu:/etc/xdg:/etc/xdg XDG_DATA_DIRS = /etc/xdg/lubuntu:/usr/share//usr/bin/startlubuntu:/usr/local/share/:/usr/share/:/usr/share:/usr/share/gdm:/var/lib/menu-xdg Env: MOZ_PLUGIN_PATH = None LD_LIBRARY_PATH = None ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: chromium-browser UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) chromium-default: CHROMIUM_FLAGS="" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/chromium-browser/+bug/924049/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~linux-traipu Post to : linux-traipu@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~linux-traipu More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
