Edouard,

I work for the division that actually produces these products. We
regularly test using various Linux kernels, and Adaptec controllers. If
fact, a whole chunk of our test system depends on Linux as it's the only OS
that'll do 16Mb contiguous transfers, so trust me when I say, the drive
works under Linux.

I suspect what you may be seeing is more of a connectivity issue. So
I would honestly recommend checking your cabling, paying specific attention
to termination. Just because the SCSI adapter bios see's the drive, it,
doesn't really mean much, as the inquiry is done before the bus negotiates
for the real fast stuff. I'm pretty sure this is where your problem will
lie.

You've not really defined how Linux doesn't deal with your device.
"the system is not able to recognise it", is a bit vague. You really need to
check the Adaptec bios, and the aic driver see the drive. Given this, I
suspect the experts on this mailing list will be able to help you more,
given a more detailed question. My suggestion would be to work on getting
the sg driver tools running.

Whilst hand on heart I'm 99% certain it's nothing to do with the
drive [though I would say that ;-) ], if you do get a definite problem with
it, drop me a mail. I'm not that familiar with our "real world" production
codes, so a C7369 only means a brick product to me. If you can get me the
full part number code C7369-xxxx, the firmware revision, or even better the
mechanism code, I'd be able to tell you a lot more, and possibly suggest a
fix (if for example you've got seriously old firmware). That said, I'm not a
one man support operation, and any help I can give will come from my
personal knowledge, NOT HP i.e. #include <std_corp_disclaimer.h>.

        Regards,

                |\

Subject: LTO Device

Kernel: 2.2.12-20
RedHat 7.0

Hello folks,

I am looking to link a HP C7369 LTO on a ASUS Motherboard
SCSI Integrated controller Adaptec.

The system is not able to recognize the device.

Is there some incompatibility with LTO devices ?

Do I have to migrate the system on a more recent Kernel ?

Are there some servers providing answers to such simple questions
about compatibility hardware ?

Thanks is advance
