I'm using it here with Thunderbird 2.0.0.22. Evolution and claws-mail work, but you need to disable the line wrapping on them. I've used both in the past, but they are very slow (Evolution eats too much memory - so you need to close it from time to time - and claws-mail is monothread: when it fetches email, the edit window process seems to stop).
