From: "Luis R. Rodriguez" <mcg...@suse.com> This provides a bit of clean up on PAT and then adds addresses the agreed upon compromise of how we will address drivers with broken PAT support by using pat_enabled() and recommending to boot with "nopat" kernel parameter.
With this and the rest of the easier changes submitted we should soon see a patch trickle down which buries MTRR from direct driver access. That will only be done once *all* the series addressing the conversion have been merged. The two driver changes that are implicated here have been reviewed by the respective maintainers, this goes with their respective ACKs. Luis R.
