Martin's patch seems to do the trick here on my
ASRock P55M Pro with a 
00:1d.0 USB controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset USB2 
Enhanced Host Controller (rev 05)
with a :
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 0951:1624 Kingston Technology DataTraveler G2
that was objecting (16GB version)
