Looking at your patch, there are only a dozen incompatible invocations of (ar)ping and they also go against the synopsis in the man page, so it makes sense to adjust them. But this is going to be a fragile solution since very few people seem to be running these selftests with a musl based system, so I would also try to adjust iputils.
