RH 7.0 up to date, kgcc, binutils-2.10.0.33-1 intel SR440BX motherboard, P3/600; rock solid machine otherwise. 2.4.0-test10 shows a rather unholy appetite for ext2 filesystems (for some reason it munches down /dev regularly, and nibbles at others). Mounting an IDE CD (modular ide-cd, isofs) hangs the system hard: No ping response, no SysRq Crunched .config follows
