if its generating oopses it sounds very much like there _is_ apm support but
its broken. Just differently broken to some of the others.
For /proc/apm to exist the BIOS must be answering some of the queries to
access it. WHat happens then is the real question - is it a Dell error return
or BIOS bug that crashes stuff
