[1.] Kernel 2.4.0-test7 hangs when heavy load is produced on the EXT2 filesystem on a Compaq SMART/2 RAID array. [2.] The problem occurs to 99 percent when unpacking a tar file (here it was the SAMBA-2.0.7 package and also the installation of StarOffice 5.2). It seems that especially creating lots of small files causes this behaviour whereas copying one 600 MB file works without any problems. The hang doesn't occur directly when writing the files but a little later when a read operation is performed (may be only when this read is from the same filesystem - i couldn't really ensure this). ATM-Drivers are activated (for FORE PCA-200E card) but the bug occurs also with the "normal" TI-Thunderlan driver activated. It seems to be independent from the network functionality. Quota is enabled but not for the "/" partition and the "/usr" partition where the bug took place.
