YES ! I've tried this first hand twice.
This is only a solution,you might tackle it in a different way.
I've suggested a way ,with the existing tools that you may have.

It's not an inefficient system the Rem partition button is provided just for
that.
and it's sometimes necessary to do this to your or whoever's filesystem if
there's some problem
during installation ...Like :
1.Power failure
2.Incomplete installation  etc..
