Hello TUXers,
I'm new to you. I am a Lignux fan from Dehradun.
My pc (I call her lisa) is a 97 model. I got 16MB SRAM on P133. Even though my
board supports 66MHz 2 DRAM slots, that kind'f mem is not available (at least not here
in Dehradun). Running X-Free86 in 16MB is horrible. I badly need an upgrade, atleast
for RAM. (HDD is 20 GB, I upgraded last month).
1) If any body of you can help me with 32 X 4 SDRAM or 2|1 X 64 66MHz DRAM my lisa
(that is my TUX) is ready for a KDE2.
2) Running mpg123 is producing noisy o/p. Even play & playmidi is getting chocked
towars the end of play. What can be the problem. Sound (OPTi with MAD16 drivers)
modules are getting loaded with out any problem. It is showing expected values of
INT/IRQ/DMA in /proc. Due to the lack of X, I have not tried mpeg_play.
But why I said all these? Yes, I think memory is the main problem. So any sugs &
helps?
