Thanks everyone. I see I am probably way behind the current state of technology in ISP connectivity and routing.
As far as I know, I am using a dialer which resides in the HotBox they gave me. (which is then connected to my own router) and if I am not mistaken this means it uses ppp to connect to their side and to get the IP. In the end I only want to be able to ssh to a machine at home. Through that ssh I can access anything I need, but I am still not sure if and how I am going to do that if I give up my nice IP. I'll try it at another location where we have dynamic IP and see how does that work out. Gabor
