I watch TV on a capture card using either the TVtime GUI or the following from the CLI: mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:norm=PAL:input=2:amode=1:width=720:height=576:outfmt=yv12:device=/dev/video0
To record from the same card I use mencoder. My problem is that the audio quality of the recording is not great - hard to describe the problem but the sound is just not "clean" - sort of an echo. I've tried many different combinations of options. Here's the best I've been able to record (but still not great): mencoder tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/video0:norm=PAL:input=2:width=720:height=576:audiorate=48000:outfmt=yv12:alsa=1:adevice=hw.1 -oac copy -ovc lavc -noskip -vf scale=720:576 -o /tmp/tst.avi 2 "strange" added bits of info. - part of the mplayer output to the terminal is "Audio: no sound", but there *IS* good quality sound. - the mencoder command *DOES* output good sound during the recording process, but the audio in the recorded file is not great. Here's part of the terminal output from mencoder - I suspect it's related to my problem. audiocodec: framecopy (format=1 chans=2 rate=48000 bits=16 B/s=192000 sample-4) Forcing audio preload to 0, max pts correction to 0. -- Shlomo Solomon http://the-solomons.net Sent by Claws Mail 3.11.1 - KDE 4.14.5 - LINUX Mageia 5 _______________________________________________ Linux-il mailing list Linux-il@cs.huji.ac.il http://mailman.cs.huji.ac.il/mailman/listinfo/linux-il
