Creative Commons
Shlomi,

More than two-thirds of the Commons exists on content platforms
like Flickr, YouTube, Vimeo, Soundcloud, and Wikipedia. The main
way people share with Creative Commons is by using the platforms
they already know and love, so working with them is vital.

The SpaceX image linked below and over 300,000 other images in
the public domain wouldn't be freely available if it wasn't for
CC.

To meet our strategic goal of growing the Commons, we must have
the resources to continue developing our relationships with
content platforms. Will you help fund this crucial work by
making a $25 or more contribution to our $50,000 fundraising
drive?

Last year, CC had no resources dedicated to working with content
platforms. This year, we've begun to change that, and are
already seeing results. Just last week, the popular writing
platform Medium added the CC license suite, and in April Flickr
added CC0 and the Public Domain Mark -- their first major update
to CC licensing since they first adopted the licenses.

We saw the benefits almost instantly: in the first two weeks
after Flickr added CC0, over 130,000 new images were added,
including all of the spectacular images from SpaceX.

Across the Commons, we need to update our tools and
technology. We want to support unique licensing IDs to allow
content analytics; improve discovery and curation through better
search; and drive more collaboration and contribution to the
global photography archive through our mobile app beta, The
List.

Those are just a few of the exciting projects we're working on,
but our ability to continue depends on raising the funds
necessary to support our work.

Help us grow the Commons. Ensure Creative Commons integration on
platforms and the development of new tools to make CC licenses
easier and more useful to creators and re-mixers by making a
contribution today!
