Hi all, I installed Debian 7.x.0 from the LXDE CD (debian-7.3.0-i386-lxde-CD-1.iso ) into a VirtualBox VM (both i586 and x86-64) several times in the past, and was always frustrated at how long the installation process is. I specifically ask it not to contact a remote mirror, but the installation nevertheless takes over an hour. In comparison, installing Mageia Linux 3 from the dual ISO takes under 10 minutes.
Can anyone shed any light about why this is the case, and whether there is anything I can do to fix it? Regards, -- Shlomi Fish P.S: another thing that annoys me about Debian is the fact that apt-get -y dist-upgrade still sometimes halts the installation process to ask me questions and prompts. This is a big misfeature and I wonder if there's a way to make apt-get completely non-interactive. -- ------------------------------------------ Shlomi Fish http://www.shlomifish.org/ Chuck Norris helps the gods that help themselves.
