I'm using it for some time now on Fedora, each new release I try and use Gnome 3 - but I always go back to using MATE+Compiz (there is even a Fedora spin for that) I tried Xfce , as I like my desktop light and snappy, but I had problems with the keyboard.
I really recommend it.
