I will only be able to play with the log tonight, but in the meantime, I can answer that my Kwrite example was just that, an example. The same problem with Open Office files. Also, no change if I close and re-open the files (in both programs). The reason I'm using Samba is that this is a mixed network with Linux and Windows machines.
