/proc/sysrq-trigger Read 'man proc' Also note that writing 'b' to it is similar to unplugging the power cord, so use with caution. If you suspect a normal reboot won't work you might want to write there 's' (sync), 'u' (umount/mount readonly), then 'b' (boot).
