Eh, I'd have to re-read the docs. As a hunch - search /etc/mail/sendmail.mc or equivalent for "MASQUERADE" - if anything is enabled try to comment it out, regenerate sendmail.cf, restart the service. Another hunch: see if there is any *.rpmsave file that CentOS 5.6 might have kept around after clobbering your configuration (if that's what it is).
