I don't know where this comes from. I've been managing about 98 domains for about 3 years now with them and have no problems at all. Even more so - when transferring domains TO them FROM another registrar I learned that GoDaddy actually offer a way to speed the domain transfer (if it's transffered FROM them) which most others don't, and had to wait the standard 5 business days cool-off period for the other registrar to give away the domain. Their SSL certificates seem to have problems with not-latest Java JVM's not recognising their CA yet, but otherwise they are good too and the cheapest I remember. > I'm looking to setup a basic site for my wife for a small business. > it will probably be mostly html, maybe some php to allow her to change some > aspects without going into html (basic dynamic content creation based on file > in the directory or simple inclusion / processing of text files). I'm NOT a web site expert but had to setup a web site for my wife. The site designer opted for HTML and PHP and now we are stuck with a nice but "home brewed" web site which is a chore to maintain. I'd recommend checking systems like Drupal/WordPress etc even for a small site. I've been trying to switch over but didn't have time to complete it. If you go this path then you might want to check sites like drupal.org.il which might be able to help finding drupal hosting (and probably similar sites for other CMS). (I can't give recommendations about Israeli hosts as the site I'm talking about is in Australia). > > No need to collect data, backup, etc. Possibly only mail support to setup a > contact me page. > > I would be happy if it will be high volume since it would say a lot of > potential customers, but I'm guessing pretty low traffic. > > Would prefer something relatively cheep as a start to see how things pick up. > Once there is some cache inflow, it's easier to justify cache outflow ... Smart point! I hear about people splashing on a too expensive web site (and other perks) with no justification.
