Just a wild thought:
1. Configure the Xserver to have a virtual display size which is larger
than physical size.
2. Direct the specific window to a non-visible area (but within the virtual
display size, so it will be refreshed) [hopefully, should be tested]
3. Grab it.
If it works, you'll still have to find a way so the end user won't pan
the physical display across the virtual space -- maybe this can be
done with some window-manager configuration/key-bindings.
