im running multiply IPs on the same host. for each IP i wish to start an instance of httpd server. therefore i would liek to make sure that the VIP is up and running before the httpd is starting up. i tried using the /sbin/ifconfig and it doesn't give a full indication on the availbilty of the IP. i also tried to ping this IP but it is not clear if this ip is running from the same host.
is there any way to distinguesh what IPs are running on a particualr host, and if this IP is vaild on the network before starting any service on this IP.
