The eclips CDT debug perspective is a very good frontend for gcc. I do find it a bit annoying that it doesn't display std containers like strings, maps and lists in a friendly manner (Visual Studio's debugger is excellent in this sense). I found kdbg a bit less friendly, but haven't tried it in a couple of years, perhaps it has improved since.
