Hi Moshe,

You are a newbie, so I'll explain a few rules you need to stick to in order to talk with the list.

First of all, keep all answers to the list. With the current configuration, the easiest way to do that is to hit "reply to all" rather than "reply" when you answer someone's emails.

Second, keep all discussions of a certain topic in a single discussion thread. You started a question about your camera. People (Shlomi) were answering you about the same subject. In my email client, the entire discussion goes under a single tree which I collapse (turn into a single line) and ignore if it's not relevant. The moment you send emails on that subject without pressing "reply" for them (your "strace -e open - this got the Camera working again" and the email I'm replying to now), they form new email threads and demand my attention again, despite the fact I chose to ignore this thread. This is impolite. Note - it is ok to change the email's subject line, so long as you form it by hitting "reply" rather than creating a brand new email. If you need to add something to an email you sent, reply to your own emails.

Third, some emails require HTML mail. Most emails in English don't. When sending to this mailing list, try to make do with emails that do not require HTML, and make sure they indeed go out as plain text.

There is no need to apologize. Simply take this as constructive criticism and try to follow these rules.

Shachar
