The idea is that every "yum update" could fetch slightly different
versions - either because the auto-mirror picking ("mirrorurl"?)
picked a different one or if not using auto-mirror (using "baseurl")
the mirror has updated between the staging and the production
machines.
For staging, I did "yum update" to bring it fully up to date, as you say.

E.g. yesterday I updated staging and got my QA guy to test the system
(and catch a couple of errors), and today I'll update production with
exactly the same versions, no matter what will be found on the
mirrors.
