If you are talking about Linkedin then I found clients using it but I never looked for a job (as in hired position) using it. On the other hand I was contacted by at least one employer through it and I saw several employment requests going through. The work I found was FOSS related only in that I used my usual FOSS-based toolkit to solve proprietary problems. Regarding Ohloh, I don't think a high ranking on Ohlo would land a job but it would be *one* of the ways to quantify your contribution and what others think about you.
