Hello, On the next august penguin this Friday ,1 august 2008, a presentation on the GNU Hebrew Optical Character Recognition library will be on the technical lane.
Hocr, GNU Hebrew Optical Character Recognition library and utility package, is a GPL-3 library for image processing and character recognition. It is the only GPL-3 OCR system that can recognize Hebrew multicolumn texts with nikud. During the day it will be possible to get demonstrations on the usage of the system. You can bring old books, poetry, newspapers and other printed material and get help scanning them and OCRing them. Interesting material scanned before 11:30 will be showed during the Hocr presentation.
