Hi all,
I have a very strange problem on a production server. The problem just
started, out of the blue, last night, and I am, so far, unable to
understand where it is coming from.
My Apache server, all of the sudden, won't handle more than one
connection every two seconds or so. Everybody else are stuck in
"SYN_RECEIVED" state. In other words, the connection never gets established!
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the entire apache package
(not help), but frankly, I can't see how that can be a user space
problem. If the connections never get established, user space has no
chance of completing the connections. This problem also happens when I
try to run "telnet localhost 80" from the machine itself, so it's not a
network issue.
Every other
service on the machine seems to be functioning as usual. I can connect
to it via ssh.
I downloaded the latest kernel from the archives (2.6.18-6 for Debian
Etch). It did not change anything.
Like I said, the problem poped into existance, out of the blue, last night.
Ideas?
