I upgraded a debian system I have (the only one) from sarge to etch using apt-get and it worked, except that I have two problems:
The first is that it did not update the kernel. How do I update the Kernel? I can't find any packages called "kernel". The second is that it assigns an IP address in the 192.168 range to my ethernet interface. If I log on to the console and do an "ifdown eth0; ifup eth0" and it assigns the right IP address using DHCP. What am I missing. Before the upgrade it worked. Thanks, Geoff. -- Geoffrey S.
