I'd rather not use a LiveCD for long periods because they tend to ruin the CD 
drive. I have several other distributions of Linux installed on different  
partitions on my hard disk - all sharing the same /home partition. Is a 
different Linux distribution OK as a different "operating system"? If I want 
to use BSD, then there may be more problems because my /home partition is an 
XFS one and I don't know how well the BSDs support it.
