I use dyndns, too, and am interested in the subject.
Therefore, I fired up aptitude in my Debian Etch installation and found
the following:

 v dyndns-client

and packages which implement the above:

 ez-ipupdate
 ddclient

Both of them seem to meet the requirements.
Does anyone from the mailing list have experience with those packages
and can make a recommendation?
