Before I answer that question I think I should point out something about the Linksys routers. The WRT54G has an ARM processor. The original version ran Linux. A customized version of Linux was made availble by the "world". At least one company sells it, others just give it away. Each is slightly different and does different things. For a variety of reasons, including cost, Linksys dropped Linux and replaced it with a customized system built using VxWorks. The VxWorks version has half the RAM as the Linux version did. So if you buy a new WRT54G, or a recent used one, it will probably be VXWorks, not Linux based and can not run any of the custom Linux versions. So many people complained that Linksys brought out the Linux version again and are selling it as the WRTG54-L. If you buy one intending on using it with Linux, make sure it is the correct one. > Since the whole purpose of the excercise ts to fix my connection problem, I > feel "safer" buying the Rotal router Bezeq provides. I usually by more expensive items that have support instead of cheap ones that are sold without it. Since the last price I saw for a WRTG54-L was over 350 NIS, it seems to me that the BEZEQ router is also a cheaper option. It may not have QOS (quality of service) routing and a complex firewall, but if you are using a Linux system between it and your network, you can do it there. Geoff. -- Geoffrey S.
