Good - make sure the remote GDM allows remote logins: run gdmsetup (either locally on that machine, or from another machine - under the other machines local X server: ssh -X 'gdmsetup'). Depending on your gdm version, it could be either a checkbox labeled "allow remote login", or under the "remote" tab you'd need to a "Style" other then "disable remote login". > I tried logging in to a different user, not the current loged in user. Not sure what you are trying here - which current user is logged in and to which machine. Lets say that machine (A) is the remote computer, which is running gdm (make sure GDM is setup as your login manager and your machine is set to start in a runlevel that starts X, usually 5. If you tell me your distro then I can be more specific). Lets say that you are now sitting at machine (B) - the local computer, and you want to have, from machine (B), a login session on machine (A): To do that, you need to log out from (B), and have the display manager showing (be it GDM, KDM, XDM or even entrance). Now you need to tell your local display manager to connect to the remote display manager (the GDM on machine a) - to do that, look at the "actions" menu of your local GDM (the one on machine B) and select "Run XDMCP chooser". -- Oded ::..
