I'd also suggest that he avoid any automatic upgrade strategy. If you look back
to the fall of 2005, you will see where thousands of systems running the
same opensource application all crashed around 2am local time. :-(

They were providing a service that customers expected 24/7 service with
no downtime. One user had around 2,000 servers crash.
