Now you are throwing insults. Not nice.
More to the point, however, it is not my duty to safeguard Novell off a bad partner. MS partnerships do, often (far from always) end bad for the partners. HOWEVER, Novell has a CEO, a board of directors and share holders, and it is up to them, not me, to look after the company's future. What I'm concerned with is, and what some people on this list showed concern over, is what happens to the FOSS world as a result of this partnership, not what happens to Novell. So I proceeded to give you examples of other cases where a commercial company backed off its support for a FOSS project it previously sponsored, and claimed that these are things that happen, and that the code already written is not in danger in any way. In other word, I'm not saying Novell has done wisely to put up this partnership. I'm saying that WE shouldn't worry because of such things as what you pointed out. > Who knows, maybe Hula will go the Mozilla way. I find it hard to believe. I find it more likely that Hula will go the way of the dodo. Thing is, it has a chance to go one way or the other, BECAUSE IT'S FREE SOFTWARE. If your project lives or dies based on whether a single commercial company keeps it alive, then it runs the risk of dieing if said company decides to stop. > BUT I believe that Hula was dropped It wasn't. The only thing that was dropped was Novell's sponsorship of it. > because It is irrelevant why it was dropped. The thing is that a commercial company made an economic decision. No news here. > But then, some people say I'm paranoid, so maybe I am wrong ;-) I don't know whether you are wrong or not. I do think that it doesn't matter that much. > Peter Shachar -- Shachar Shemesh Lingnu Open Source Consulting ltd.
