Mac.

There was in fact an offical Sony PSII Linux system. I don't know if you
can get the binaries without buying the package, but I'm sure someone
has them somewhere and will send/download a copy for you.

 3. yes, i do want to mess with linux, this is the whole idea !!!

After disasters with FC5, and mythtv, I'd rather just have something that
works, supports all the hardware and does not break every time I run
a software update, thank you very much.

Linux is a great system, but there is one fundemental lesson that needs
to be learned from Windows. Don't drop support for hardware, just because
you feel like it.

Until someone gets the support for the Phillips chip my cards use (fly
video with an SAA(something)) working again, I'm stuck with debian
system with an older kernel that I really don't need the TV card in, and
an FC5 one that I do, but won't work.

As for mythtv, if you do not record off the air as MP4, or transcode them
after recording them, the ONLY thing that will play them is mythtv. Make sure
that there is a working port for your hardware.
